Mario Kart Tour Review — Yippie!
It looks like all Mario fans are in for a treat this autumn. The new adaptation of Mario Kart for Android and iOS will be released until the end of September! The game is expected to bring us a basket full of crazy stunts, dizzy skids, and uncontrollable speed. Watch out for traffic police!
Graphics and Sound 10/10
The game isn't available for testing yet. But what can be seen from its trailer is quite impressive. We have a beautifully animated 3D world, stuffed with racing tracks and realistic vehicular physics. The racing arenas are a spectacle on their own. You get to race n chase:
- On a beach with gigantic surfboards scattered all over it.
- On a gleaming highway in outer space that reminds of Nyan Cat.
- In Paris' downtown where you'll have to take sharp turns around the Arcul de Triumf.
All this speedy insanity is accompanied with a furious hard-rock soundtrack, with blazing horns and extra percussion kicking in the hook parts. Trademark noises that Mario and his buddies produce will also make the race more immersive. (Especially in its dangerous moments).
All in all, the game promises to be vibrant, wildly energetic and explosively colorful. But since it's a mobile title, you will need a device with a chip that matches MediaTek Helio P90, Snapdragon 845 or Kirin 980.
From what the game trailer has to show, MKT is a canonical racing title set in the Mushroom Kingdom. Among the characters you'll get to play are Mario and Luigi, their evil doppelgangers Waluigi and Warrior, princess Peach and Donkey Kong. It seems Yoshi, Diddy Kong, Toadette, Shy Guy and Bowser have also made it to the race.
Your objectives will seemingly include:
- Deflecting spiked turtle shells.
- Making it first to the finishing line.
- Collecting coins to activate power-ups.
- Travelling from around the globe: from France to Japan.
Mario and the gang will also get to compete in space and even in a scarily huge board game about Waluigi. Besides, you'll be able to sabotage your competitors by using secret weapons against them. For instance, Yoshi can throw a volleyball at a rival in a backstabbing manner, making them lose control of the kart.
Odds are, Mario Kart Tour will be a gyroscope-controlled game. In other worse, you'll have to tilt your device to take turns or change the direction. Buttons for power-up activation, weapons, etc. will be more likely mapped in a gamepad manner.
Lasting Appeal 9/10
Mario Kart games are always enjoyable. Especially if you can play them while lying on the sofa. It is suspected that MKT will have online multiplayer along with the campaign mode that will take you to every corner of the world. If challenging other payers will really be present, MKT will make one delicious mobile title for all fans of both Mario universe and the racing genre.
Mario Kart Tour seems to be a majestic game. It takes the best from the Mario Kart series, brings it to your phone and peppers it with juicy visuals, our favorite characters and (possibly) multiplayer. The game will premiere on September 25, 2019, and can be pre-registered for on Google Play/App store. Hit the gas!
